Sustainability

At Lucie & Co, we're dedicated to creating pet accessories that are not only stylish but also sustainable. We take pride in sourcing materials responsibly and reducing our environmental footprint. When you choose Lucie & Co, you're choosing pet accessories that prioritize the well-being of your pets and the planet.

Our Practices.

We are transparent about our sourcing and production practices, providing you with the peace of mind about our sustainability claims. All of our products are completely handmade in South East Queensland, Australia by Tormina the owner of Lucie & Co. There is no mass production of our products meaning you are getting the piece of mind of supporting slow pet fashion. The sourcing of all of our items we use have the forefront of sustainability in mind, even down to our waste when creating these products. We utilise our scrap wastage where ever possible in a variety of ways.

Our Fabrics.

We actively source recycled fabrics from various locations including charity shops. Diverting textiles from landfills by upcycling these materials into pet accessories for you. Repurposed items have a huge positive environmental and social impact by reducing carbon emissions, saving resources, water and energy.

Not all of our products are made using recycled fabrics and these are labelled accordingly.

Our Packaging.

Our packaging materials are carefully selected to ensure they are either compostable or recyclable. Our packaging is also designed to be minimalist, using only the necessary materials. This approach reduces waste and the consumption of resources during production.

We ensure that the materials used in our packaging are sourced ethically and responsibly. This includes considerations such as fair labor practices and environmental sustainability. You can find out exactly where we source our packaging from and all other information regarding what we use here.

Our Cotton Threads.

In all our bandanas we try to source only secondhand quality cotton threads. However, this is not always possible and as we want to use the best quality thread to ensure not only durability but to keep a high-quality product we do often at times have to source brand new threads. These threads are used on all of our products including our sustainable ranges. We do source a lot of second hand quality threads as well. We use Gutermann and Rasant threads at the current time, both sourced brand new and second hand.

Our Labels.

We made an eco-conscious decision to ensure our labels are not only organic and have safe inks but have ethical standards as well.

Our labels are 100% organic cotton that have been heat cut which ensures no fraying will occur. They are OCS, OKEO TEX and SEDEX certified. The supplier also has Higg Index for their company as well.

Print Factory conduct all their work in Victoria. The DTF transfers are made using water-based inks which is a sustainable option for clothing transfers.
